Participant-Directed Services (PDS) in California
Want to find out more about Participant-Directed Services? We host information sessions regularly. Check back for more information.
With PDS, a person with developmental disabilities can:
- Choose who provides your support
- Control other aspects of your care
- Hire a friend, family member, or other person of your choosing
- Become the employer of your worker
What is PDS? PDS stands for Participant Directed Services and it is a model of care that gives individuals more control over how their support services are delivered—letting them choose who provides the services, when, and how.

What will PPL do for you?
Participants in the participant-directed services program are required to use a Financial Management Services (FMS) company such as PPL. We assist with many aspects of your Participant Directed Services journey such as enrollment and coordinating payments to providers and vendors. The program includes FMS expenses, so there is no cost to you or your plan.
We are here to support you.
