2026 Benefits Enrollment: Full-Time Downstate PAs Enrolled in a PPL Health Plan
This page applies to you if you are a full-time personal assistant serving a consumer in one of the downstate counties (Bronx, New York, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, or Westchester) and are currently enrolled in a PPL health plan (SecureHealth or SecureHealth Plus).
What this means for you
- Your current health coverage continues automatically.
If you’re enrolled in SecureHealth or SecureHealth Plus, your coverage will continue starting May 1, 2026. - You do not need to re-enroll, and your premiums and deductible will not reset.
- You don’t have to do anything unless you want to make a change.
- During the special open enrollment window (April 15 – May 15, 2026), you may choose to make changes, but no action is required to keep your current coverage.
Your choices during the special enrollment window
Between April 15 and May 15, 2026, you may choose to:
- Keep your current health plan
- If you take no action, your SecureHealth or SecureHealth Plus coverage will continue for the rest of 2026.
- Opt out of your current health plan
- If you opt out, you will no longer have PPL medical coverage for the remainder of the year.
- Wage parity dollars formerly used to support enrollment in the SecureHealth or SecureHealth Plus plan will automatically roll into a 401(a) retirement account. PPL contributes to this account each pay period based on regular hours worked and contributions are fully vested, meaning they are yours to keep from day one.
- Enroll in new optional insurance
You may also a NYC transit plan and employee-paid, optional insurance offered by Chubb, including:- Accident insurance
- Critical illness insurance
- Life insurance

Helpful reminders
- This is a special enrollment window. After May 15, 2026, you generally won’t be able to make changes to your PPL benefits unless you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting married or welcoming a new child.
- Any changes you make during this special enrollment window will take effect May 1, 2026.
