At PPL, our goal has always been clear: to empower aging adults and people with disabilities to live with dignity in their own homes, supported by caregivers they choose and trust. That work has never mattered more, and we are proud to be meeting the moment with strong leadership and steady hands.

Since our founding in 1999, we have continued to strengthen our position as the leading provider for self-directed programs nationwide. Today, we are proud to oversee more than 50 of these programs in 20 states. Most exciting, we have executed the largest self-directed care implementation in U.S. history with the transition of New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) to PPL as the state’s sole fiscal intermediary.

To continue this momentum while sustaining the level of service our partners expect and deserve, PPL has undergone planned and thoughtful leadership changes focused on delivering even greater value to those we serve. In this spirit, we’ve brought on two new, seasoned leaders to support PPL’s next chapter of growth and scale nationwide.

We are thrilled to have Miki Kapoor as our CEO, following a collaborative transition with former PPL CEO Vince Coppola. Miki has long supported PPL’s growth as an active member of PPL’s board, a position he has held for three years.

Miki is a passionate advocate for global health, public health, and private companies that meaningfully impact healthcare for the individuals they serve. He brings more than 25 years of operational and strategic healthcare leadership experience: most recently as the founding CEO of Verana Health, where he led the company to assemble the largest clinical databases in medicine to enable the faster development of medicines for patients. Prior to that, he was CEO of Tea Leaves Health, a healthcare technology company that engaged in meaningful and attentive ways with consumers and physicians, expanding the company into 30% of the nation’s top health systems and more than 400 hospitals. As the global head of health systems at one of the world’s largest international NGOs, he led a team of several hundred, with a focus on expanding access to life-saving HIV treatment and reducing mother-to-child transmission of the virus in resource-limited settings. Miki moved his family to India and Africa for this important work. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened public health systems across multiple countries, helping ensure that more newborns had a chance to be born free of HIV. Miki holds an MBA and MPH from Yale University and a BA in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as a Fulbright Fellow, a board member for over 10 healthcare organizations, and a visiting professor at two universities. He also held several guest lectureships at Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Miki’s deep familiarity with PPL and track record of scaling healthcare innovation make him the right leader for this next phase.

PPL is also proud to welcome our new Chief Financial Officer Adam Thackery, a top financial leader in the middle market healthcare industry. Adam has served as CFO for multiple large and high-growth organizations over the past decade, including PharmScript LLC, Devoted Health, and Universal American. With a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Wharton School, Adam brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial business experience to PPL from both public and private companies, with experience negotiating with health plans and managing complex operations.

Adam is actively working closely with our outgoing CFO, Sherwin Krug, who will be retiring this fall after contributing to PPL’s recent growth and transition. Since 2023, Sherwin has supported the financial strategy for PPL’s carve-out from Public Consulting Group and the NY CDPAP transition, helping to establish a solid foundation for the future.

Adam is well-prepared to assume the role this fall and continue advancing PPL’s growth and service to the communities we support.

More broadly, PPL has an incredible team led by seasoned executives who have been essential to PPL’s growth and success. To name a few, Mark Altieri, VP of Business Development, Tara Himmel, SVP of Marketing & Organic Growth, and Sandy Kasprzak VP of Client Engagement have been part of the leadership and journey of PPL for over a decade.

Especially as we near the completion of our historic consumer-directed care transition in New York, the following leaders have decades of experience supporting NY Medicaid programs and have been instrumental in shaping this transition and transforming NY CDPAP for the better: Bonnie Vaughn, SVP of Business Development, Patty Byrnes, VP of Government Relations, Tunde Capizzi, VP of Client Engagement, Alayna Bochenek, Senior Regional Director, David Bach, VP of Project Management, Joe Cunningham, VP of Operations, and Amy Purvis, Senior Director of Human Resources.

The entire PPL team has worked tirelessly to create a streamlined system that by all metrics is more efficient and better able to serve caregivers, consumers, and taxpayers alike. Each of these leaders remain steadfast in their continuing commitment to the organization and its mission: empowering consumers to remain in their homes with dignity.

With our new leadership team, and the 2,000 teammates who live our mission daily, PPL is better positioned now than ever to continue delivering life-changing results as a nationwide leader in consumer directed programs. To our staff, caregivers, and everyone who relies on the unique empowerment and flexibility that self-directed care offers: our commitment to you remains unchanged. We look forward to a bright future together.
