NY CDPAP Personal Assistant
Queens, New York personal assistant (PA) Chun K. is happy he made the transition to PPL as the statewide fiscal intermediary for New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP). “I think PPL is ahead in terms of the way their system is set up … it’s much more efficient,” said Chun of PPL’s Time4Care time tracking app, as compared to the system he used to track time with his previous CDPAP fiscal intermediary.
Chun left the corporate world to become his daughter Anna’s caregiver during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was born with congenital heart defects and later developed mental disabilities that require ongoing home care. As Anna’s PA, Chun handles her daily routine, which includes preparing meals and driving her to her day program, medical appointments, and other enrichment activities. His wife is Anna’s designated representative.
Chun considers the Time4Care app a big improvement over the methods used by his former agency. “It’s very interactive, has all the controls in place, and is very intuitive,” he said. “I didn’t have any trouble [downloading the app from the Apple app store] … and the training was very easy to follow.”
Another welcome change with PPL is having a flexible work schedule and receiving weekly instead of biweekly paychecks. With PPL, Chun said, “I haven’t had any pay issues. I’ve always been paid on-time.”
