Overview
Supports and Training for Employing People Successfully (STEPS) is a voluntary pilot program operating within the Kansas 1115 demonstration called KanCare. STEPS is designed to provide individualized employment and independent living supports available for up to 500 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries who meet pilot eligibility criteria. STEPS purpose is to help the State determine whether providing services designed to support competitive, integrated employment and independent living support result in successful employment and independent living outcomes.
If you qualify, you will be able to:
Participants can
Work with a support broker to develop a budget.
Find, hire, manage, and dismiss your careworkers.
Use MyAccount to review your budget and approved services.
Use MyAccount or Time4Care to review, approve, and submit your careworker’s timesheets.
Services include
Payroll – We process payroll for your careworker using money from your budget.
Employment tax requirements – We handle all employment-related taxes for you, including federal, state, local, and unemployment.
Enrollment support – We help you and your careworker with enrollment and training through your enrollment specialist,
Customer service – Our friendly and professional customer service agents are available five days a week to help you with any questions.
Payments for additional services – We process payments for goods and services purchased by the participant using their allocated budget funds

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is used in your program. Submit and approve timesheets with Time4Care EVV, our easy-to-use mobile app.

The telephony option is for Providers who do not have a smart phone or tablet, to clock-in and clock-out via the PPL mobile application. To use the telephony option, the member must call Customer Service to sign up. Their landline phone number will be stored in the member’s PPL Profile. The member’s phone number and address must be up to date with PPL.
Telephony will not work until after the member has signed up with Customer Service. You must call the telephony number from the phone that is registered on the member’s profile. If you don’t, you will not be able to submit or approve shifts through the system.

Phone Line Registration
Member should first call PPL customer service to register their landline phone. Customer Service can be reached at: 833-771-1838

Submitting and Approving Shifts
To submit a shift as a Provider or approve/reject a shift as a Member you will call this dedicated telephony number: 833-930-3542
03.
Providers will
- Dial 833-930-3542
- Providers will need to “Select option 1 to indicate that you are the individual delivering care.”
- Enter last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (SSN) and Date of Birth
- Select Program Member from list
- Select either start new, modify, or end
- If needed follow prompts to correct and resubmit entries
04. Participant/Authorized Representative will
- Dial 833-930-3542
- Members will need to “Select option 2 to indicate that you are the individual receiving care.”
- Verify identity by entering Last 4 digits of SSN and
- Select Provider from list
- Follow prompts to review and approve or reject any submitted
