Meet the PPL Behind the Mission
Our “MyWhy” series highlights stories from our PPL employees, sharing the personal motivations behind their commitment to helping others access in-home care through self-direction. Hear directly from the individuals who bring our mission to life, and be sure to check back regularly as new stories are released.
A Conversation with Breanna C., Enrollment Coordinator
Breanna’s connection to PPL’s mission starts at home with her son, Tanner. Her experience advocating for him and navigating services has shaped not only who she is as a mom, but how she approaches the people and families behind the work she does every day.
We sat down with Breanna to learn more about her “why.”
Tell us a little bit about why you are connected to the work at PPL.
My biggest “why” is my son, Tanner. He is on the autism spectrum and navigating that journey with him has not always been easy. I’ve had to learn how to advocate for him, navigate different services and school systems, ask a lot of questions and sometimes fight to make sure his needs are understood.
Being his mom has changed the way I see the work we do at PPL because I know what it feels like to be the person on the other side of the paperwork.

How has your experience with Tanner shaped the way you approach your work?
It reminds me that behind every enrollment, document, phone call, or case is a real person. Often, there’s a family on the other side doing the very best they can for someone they love.
There have been times when I’ve questioned whether I was making the right decision for Tanner or felt overwhelmed trying to understand what services and support would be best for him. Those experiences have given me a much deeper appreciation for the people and families we serve.
What does that look like in your day-to-day work?
Sometimes it’s the small things. Something that may feel routine to us can mean everything to the person waiting on the other side.
Taking an extra few minutes to explain something, catching an error before it causes a delay, or simply treating someone with patience and kindness can make their experience a little easier. Tanner has taught me patience, advocacy, and compassion, and I try to bring those things into my work every day.
How did you find your way to PPL?
I actually found PPL through Indeed! At the time, I was looking for an opportunity where I could use my experience in customer service, organization, and helping others while continuing to grow professionally and provide for my son.
Once I learned more about PPL and self-direction, the mission became much more meaningful to me. As a mom who understands what it’s like to advocate for a child who may need additional support, I connected with the idea of helping people have more choice, independence, and control in their lives.
What keeps you connected to PPL’s mission today?
Knowing that the work may happen behind the scenes, but there is always someone on the other side of it. Being Tanner’s mom reminds me every day that there is a person, a family, and a story behind every case.
That is what keeps me at PPL. Even though much of my work happens behind the scenes, I know that what I do can make someone’s process a little easier.
