A Conversation with Malcolm T.
What is your “Why” at PPL?
My Why started before I ever became an employee at PPL.
Several years ago, I was laid off from an AT&T subdivision called ACC Business when my role was outsourced overseas. After four years of service, that was a tough moment. I remember buying a laptop and naming it Endeavor because I needed a reminder that failure wasn’t an option. I was determined to keep moving forward.
That same mindset is what I bring to PPL every day.
Every interaction I’ve had, the people I’ve worked with throughout my journey here have helped shaped who I am, and it’s been an honor to work with so many great people.
What keeps me motivated most is knowing that our work truly impacts people’s lives.
Is there an experience that stands out during your time at PPL?
Yes. In the early days of the April 2025 transition, a consumer was caught in a frustrating cycle, being sent back and forth between her Managed Care Organization (MCO) and PPL because of an issue with her service authorization. After digging into the situation, I discovered the problem was tied to paperwork that had been mishandled internally by the MCO.
For several days, I worked alongside that consumer & the MCO, documenting every interaction to get everything resolved. In the end, we secured her service authorization and helped recover back pay owed to her personal assistant dating back to March 2025.
That experience reminded me why I do this work. It wasn’t about solving the paperwork issue. It was about making sure someone felt heard and had an advocate in their corner when they needed one the most.
Today, I come to work each day with the same determination.
My Why is simple: helping people, solving problems, and making a difference for the consumers and personal assistants who count on us.
