A Conversation with Sohaib K., Supervisor II, Enrollment
What’s your Why?
My “why” for working at PPL comes from knowing that the work we do directly impacts individuals and families who rely on self‑direction services. Every day, we’re helping people access the support they need, and that’s something I never lose sight of.
As a Supervisor II on the Enrollment team, I not only support the enrollment process, but I also lead and manage teams responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compassionate service. That responsibility is what makes this work meaningful to me.
What motivates you on a daily basis?
What motivates me on a daily basis is dealing with operational problems that are actively slowing teams down and making them compensate with manual workarounds. I focus on identifying where processes, systems, or handoffs are breaking under real workload and removing those failure points. That usually means cleaning up workflows, reducing ambiguity in requirements, or rebuilding parts of a system so the work can actually flow without constant supervision or correction.
A lot of my day is spent translating between operational reality and system behavior, especially when teams have adapted to inefficiencies that were never formally addressed. I stay engaged when I can take something that is causing repeated errors, delays, or confusion and turn it into a process that is predictable and measurable. What keeps me consistent is seeing those fixes hold up under real usage, not just design intent.
What reminds you that this work is meaningful?
One of the experiences that has reinforced my “why” has been seeing how effective leadership and strong team support directly impact the people we serve. Managing teams through complex enrollment situations, system challenges, and process changes has shown me just how important guidance, collaboration, and consistency are. When my team feels confident and supported, it translates into better outcomes for consumers and families. That connection is what makes this work rewarding.
How did you first learn about PPL?
I first learned about PPL through my interest in work that combines structure, service, and purpose. The self‑direction model stood out to me because it focuses on empowering individuals by giving them more control over their care. As I learned more about PPL’s mission and the role Enrollment plays in supporting it, I saw an opportunity to use my leadership, operational, and technology skills in a meaningful way.
For me, that balance of leadership, technology, and purpose is what keeps me at PPL. It’s knowing that by supporting my team, we’re ultimately making a positive difference for the individuals and families who depend on us every day.
